Īs the executioner, she did not have any vampiric impulses, and the rest of the True Ancestors also believed she had none. She was taught nothing beyond what she needed to know to hunt her targets, to the extent that she even ignored the fact that she was the same kind of creature as those she was supposed to destroy, and went to sleep after every kill, with her accumulated memories erased. She was able to perform this duty splendidly, but she was nothing more than a tool. According to Ciel, this happened in the 12th century AD, when the number of fallen True Ancestors was very high. There was no need for a being as strong as her, but in the end, she originated from nothingness, simply as a product to realize the pointless goal of "the strongest True Ancestor." They used her great strength to make her into a weapon, the executioner of the fallen True Ancestors and of the most powerful Dead Apostles. They normally only mold new True Ancestors to fit specific needs. The True Ancestors didn't have a specific reason in creating Arcueid. The True Ancestors needed to use a large portion of their power to suppress this impulse, but as there was no cure, and with passage of time the impulse grew, more and more True Ancestors fell and began drinking blood indiscriminately, while others most likely went into eternal sleep. However the race was fundamentally flawed, they had a desire to drink blood that their original, the Crimson Moon, had. True Ancestors are alike to occurrences such as earthquakes and typhoons rather than individuals as their actions, while evil and without justification, would come as naturally to her (Arcueid and other True Ancestors) as breathing. Thus the Crimson Moon came down and offered to help the planet make a race of ultimate beings to rule over humanity, thus resulting in them being the "consciousness of the planet". Long ago the will of the planet had no defense mechanism against humanity, nothing to keep them in check. The True Ancestors were a race of beings copied from Type-Moon, the ultimate being of the moon, also known as the Crimson Moon. ![]() The title of Brunestud was given to those True Ancestors capable of manifesting the Millennium Castle Brunestud, and has been likened to be the vampire royal family, although this is not strictly true. I recall many great get-togethers playing party games like Fuzion Frenzy, Halo: Combat Evolved, or taking turns playing co-operative games like Battlefront II (2005), Destroy All Humans!, and Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space. People still spend a lot of time together, especially in younger years like during high school and college, whether it be to simply hang out and neglect homework or to drink. Some say the removal of couch co-op options is due to lack of people inviting others over, and that online multiplayer is much more prevalent. Today is different - if we want to play popular games like Fortnite, Sea of Thieves, Halo, Battlefield, or Dying Light, everyone who wants to play together needs to own an Xbox One, an Xbox LIVE subscription, and the game (save Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode as it’s free). I could play MechAssault 2 online, but also have my best friend sit beside me and be able to play it as well, even though he at the time did not own an Xbox or the game. (The original MechAssault launched with Xbox LIVE as well in November 2002, being one of the first to support that feature). Take the two MechAssault games and the first two Halo games: some of the best graphics around at the time, and both supported split-screen multiplayer. Some of the best games from the original Xbox with the best graphics that the Xbox could run ran split-screen just fine. There are ways to share games over the consoles, but spending a few hundred dollars on an Xbox One and maybe even a television is quite the price to be able to play a game with a friend instead of just needing a second controller. You want to play Halo 5 or Sea of Thieves with your best friend? You’ll both have to go buy an Xbox One and a copy of each game. What happened to the rest of the games that could be played as couch co-op? Why do companies use the excuse of not including split-screen because of graphical problems? The sad reason why most games no longer include split-screen is money. That’s just one game series though, and one excuse. At the very least 343 is listening because they mentioned that the next Halo installment will include split-screen once again. Many people have stated that they would have rather had split-screen included in the game and suffered the graphical loss. But if you have ever played Halo 5 you will know that it is full of issues, one of which is not running at 60 fps at long distances (zooming in on an enemy who is far away, for example) anyways. When it comes down to it, the developer 343 Industries stated it was due to not being able to run at 60fps, 1080p and split screen at the same time. This was meant to be a multiplayer campaign, and definitely is a mainly multiplayer game, so why remove split screen? What was worse was that split screen was said to be in the game before release, and that the game was the first to use a new squad based system that allowed you to command three other characters who would be with you during the entire campaign if you played solo. Understandably, the lack of split screen in Halo 5 upset the Halo fan base tremendously. This stayed with the Halo series from the first game all the way through Halos 2, 3, Reach, ODST, and 4. Split-screen was something that pushed the first game into the public’s eye playing a fantastic, new shooter with three other friends on the same Xbox and television. Take Halo 5: Guardians, for example - the first main Halo game that does not support split-screen gameplay. Sadly, almost every game released nowadays does not support this. ![]() This element allowed families to play together and for friends to come over and experience something they may not have access to normally. Think of the LEGO games, Fuzion Frenzy, LOTR: Return of the King, Pokemon Stadium, and more. Due to this, multiplayer games were specifically designed for two to four players on the same system, be it through split-screen or a view of all players in a third-person experience. Consoles like the Nintendo 64, GameCube, and PlayStation 2 had no online elements at all. ![]() They came before Xbox LIVE or the PlayStation Network existed, after all.
